How long does it take to get your driver’s license in the US?

I’m 15, and my family and I are moving to Florida in the spring from London. I know I can get my license sooner in the US, but how much sooner? How long will it take to get my driver’s license?

Allo, chap! Welcome to the US. It takes about one year from the date you got your permit to get your driver’s license in the US.
Most states require you to apply for and drive with a
learner’s permit
for at least 12 months before you can apply for your license.
For example, here’s how to get a license in Florida:
  • Apply for your learner’s permit
  • Hold your permit for one year and complete at least 50 hours of driving experience
  • Apply for your driver’s license
  • Pass the road test
Best of luck to you in securing your US driver’s license! After you become a licensed driver, you’ll need a good
car insurance
policy to match your needs.
