How long does it take to change a transmission?
My car is in the shop. The mechanic is supposed to be replacing the transmission. But it’s been two days now and I haven't heard anything. I called and they said it wouldn’t be done until tomorrow. Seems like a long time to wait. How long does it normally take to change a transmission?

I’m sorry to hear that it’s taking longer than you’d like to get your transmission changed. How long it takes to change a transmission will vary depending on how busy the shop is and what type of car you have.
In general, though, it takes about one to two days to change transmission. But it’s not uncommon for the job to take three or even four days–especially with late-model cars.
In short, there’s nothing really out of the ordinary about the mechanic taking three days to change your transmission. As long as it’s ready when they say it will be, you shouldn’t have anything to worry about.
