Due to the nature of the onsite training, you may be able to get an automotive technician diploma in 18 months but more in-depth training may take longer depending on the program.
While EVs have fewer components, they do have similar parts as traditional vehicles, however, some systems are specific to EVs only. While theoretical training is very important, the best type of training is on the job. Try to find an apprenticeship or internship program at a mechanic shop to learn some key skills that can’t be taught in a classroom.
