How long does a black mark stay on a credit report?

How long will I have to wait before a black mark comes off of my credit report? It’s made it difficult to get a loan with a good interest rate, but I know that marks on your credit can disappear over time.

You’re right that marks on your credit will go away over time! Black marks will typically stay on your credit report for seven years, although they can last for as long as 10 years if you file Chapter 7
bankruptcy
.
The best thing to do if you have a black mark on your credit is to pay off as much outstanding debt as you can. If necessary, make a budgeting plan so that you can pay off any debt in your name as quickly as possible. Then, once your debt is paid off, try to rebuild your credit by making payments on time each month.
In the meantime, try cutting costs on other expenses to help pay off your debt. The
Jerry
app can help you save money on the car insurance coverage you need so you can save up to pay off your debt. It only takes a minute to sign up, and the average user saves $887 per month.
Hope that helps!
