How long do car batteries last in Michigan?
I’m moving to Michigan in the near future. I’m originally from Texas, so I’m a bit worried about the cold and what it might do to the two cars that I own. I also want to make sure that I have enough money budgeted in case I need a new battery due to the cold. How long do batteries generally last in the Wolverine State?

Car batteries in Michigan will last between three and five years, about the same as they will anywhere else. Although Michigan has a colder climate, cold weather doesn’t diminish the length of a battery’s life. Heat is actually the biggest factor that shortens the life span of a battery, as it plays with the chemistry within the battery itself.
