How long can the car insurance company take to fix my car?

I've been waiting over two weeks for the car insurance company to fix my car at one of their preferred repair shops. I need my car to get to work, so I've been using rideshare services, but I feel like this shouldn't be taking this long. How long can my provider take to repair the car? Is there a limit?

“First of all, I’m really sorry to hear that—I’d also be frustrated in your shoes.
Car insurance
providers actually have little control over how long it takes to repair your vehicle. It’s dependent on the severity of the damage, how busy the repair shop is, and whether or not they have the parts for your car in their inventory.
While most repairs take one to two weeks, back-ordered parts could create a bottleneck that can take a month or more to fix your car.
If you need your vehicle for work, ask your car insurance company about
rental reimbursement
, which may be able to cover the cost of a car rental until your vehicle is out of the shop.
If you feel underserved by your current provider, you can always shop around to see if you might get a better deal on insurance elsewhere. One of the easiest ways to do this is with the
Jerry
app—we’ll get you personalized quotes from multiple providers so you can make sure you’re getting the best deal on the coverage you need. And if you do pick a new plan, we’ll help you switch, too!
Best of luck with the repairs, and I hope you’re back in the driver’s seat again soon.”
