How is PIP paid out?

Is PIP paid out on a per person or per accident basis? My friend and I were injured in an accident. We both have $10,000 in medical bills. I have $15,000 in PIP coverage.

“With most
car insurance
policies, personal injury protection limits are on a per person basis. If you have $15,000 in PIP coverage, your policy should cover both you and your friend’s medical expenses.
You should still check with your insurance company to confirm your coverage. Some carriers or states do have per accident limits. An agent with your insurance company will be able to provide you with the conditions of your policy and how your claim will be paid out.
If you do end up with out of pocket costs, your health insurance typically will cover the remaining costs.
Additionally, if another driver was at fault, their
bodily injury liability
may provide additional coverage.”
