How does the wind/hail deductible on my policy work?
I see that my homeowner's policy has a wind/hail deductible of 5% and then another deductible of $1,000. I guess I didn't notice this when I purchased the policy. I am insured for $375,000; how would the wind/hail deductible come into play?

homeowners policy
with a separate deductible. This makes the premium affordable for the customer and allows the insurance carriers to save money with a lower payout. Wind/hail deductibles generally have a percentage of 1%, 2% or 5%.
Since your home is insured for $375,000, your deductible for wind/hail is $18,750. If this amount seems out of your range, contact your carrier and ask for quotes with the lower options.
