How do you remove paint from a car’s bumper?
I was at the gas station the other day. When pulling away from the pump, I scraped my bumper against one of the guardrails. The guardrail didn't dent my vehicle, but some of the yellow paint ended up on my car. How can I remove the paint from my bumper?

What you’re describing is called paint transfer and is common when coming your vehicle comes in contact with another painted surface. But don’t stress. Getting the paint transfer off your vehicle is relatively easy.
To get the yellow paint transfer off your car’s bumper, first wash the area with soap and water and dry it thoroughly Next, you have three ways to remove the paint transfer once the area is clean:
- Apply a rubbing compound or scratch remover and gently work the product into the affected area using a soft cloth
- Apply WD-40 using a soft cloth to loosen the paint and repeat as necessary
- Use a pretreated sponge like a Magic Eraser to remove the paint
If the first method you try doesn’t fully clean off the paint transfer, rewash the area and try a different method until the paint is off. Once the paint is completely removed, wax or polish the area to protect the paint.
