How do you remove clear coat without damaging the paint?

I noticed yesterday that my clear coat is scratched. I’d love to remove it and redo it. Can you take off clear coat without hurting a car’s paint?

Yes, you can remove clear coat without damaging the paint. Here’s how.
  • Soak 400-grit sandpaper in water.
  • Tape off delicate surfaces of the vehicle that you don’t want to affect.
  • Wet sand the clear coat thoroughly.
  • Then, dry-sand it.
  • Rinse the sanded car off, and polish the sanded portion.
  • Finish by cleaning off the polished area well.
You clearly care about your vehicle, so make sure it’s covered by great car insurance—without overpaying for it.
