The battery on my Ford Escape died and I need to get it towed, but I’ll have to move it first so the tow truck can get to it. Is there a way to put a Ford Escape in neutral when the battery is dead?

It is possible to put a Ford Escape in neutral even when the battery is dead. All you’ll need is a flathead screwdriver and follow these steps:
- Pry up the protective cover around the gear shift
- Run your screwdriver down the left side and you’ll find a white tab
- Pull the white tab toward you to release the locking mechanism
- While still pulling the tab toward you, shift the vehicle into neutral
