Last week, I bought a used Wrangler from a friend. She said she’d help me hook up its HomeLink system to my garage door opener, but I don’t want to bother her. How do you program a 2018 Jeep Wrangler garage door opener?
Steps | How to program a 2018 Jeep Wrangler garage door opener (if you have an older garage door opener) |
---|---|
Step 1 | Park your Wrangler outside of your garage door. |
Step 2 | Put the Wrangler in the on/run position but do not start the engine. |
Step 3 | To clear your Wrangler’s HomeLink memory, press down on the 1st and 3rd buttons on the HomeLink console for about 20 seconds. The amber indicator light in the HomeLink console will flash quickly. |
Step 4 | Now, take your handheld garage door opener and hold it 1-3 inches away from the HomeLink console. Hold the button on your handheld opener and hold down one of the buttons on the HomeLink console at the same time. |
Step 5 | Once the amber indicator light on the HomeLink console begins to flash quickly, you can release both buttons. Note: this step may take 30+ seconds. |
Step 6 | If you’ve been successful, the button you have programmed on the HomeLink console should control your garage door. |
Steps | How to program a 2018 Jeep Wrangler garage door opener (if you have a newer garage door opener with “Learn” or “Train” button) |
---|---|
Step 7 | Exit your Wrangler and go into the garage. On the motor of the garage door opener, push and then release the “Learn” or “Train” button. Be ready to move—you have only 30 seconds to complete the next step. |
Step 8 | Inside the Wrangler, press the HomeLink button you want to program twice (each time, hold the button for 2 seconds). |
Step 9 | Test the HomeLink button. It should open/close the garage door. If the button doesn’t work, you will need to press the HomeLink button a third time. |
