I’m going on a road trip in a few days, and my dad suggested checking the fluid levels in my car before leaving. It’s a great idea, but how do I open the hood of my 2005 BMW X3?

That’s some great advice from your dad, and I hope you’re excited for the trip!
- Pull the hood release lever on the left-hand side of the driver’s footwell near the door. The hood should lift a few inches.
- Feel around under the center of the hood for the hood release latch.
- Lift the hood and secure it using the prop rod.
