There are all kinds of changes with each new generation of vehicle—and the Toyota Prius is no different. You can open the fourth-generation Toyota Prius’ gas tank by pressing a button on the lower left side of the steering wheel.
This method applies to all fourth-generation (2016 to 2021) Toyota Priuses. The button is labeled with the symbol of a gas fueling station.
Once you’ve popped the fuel tank door, walk around to the side of your Prius and unscrew the gas cap. From there, you can fill up and be on your way!
If the cable connecting the button and your fuel tank door gets damaged, broken, or frozen, you can access a secondary lever inside the trunk. You’ll have to remove the plastic cover under your luggage compartment on the left to find it.
