Excellent question! Opening the gas tank—or more accurately, the fuel fill door—on your 2020 Toyota RAV4 is very simple, but may take some getting used to if you’ve only owned vehicles with a manual fuel fill door.
All you have to do to open the gas tank on a 2020 Toyota RAV4 is pull the dark gray fuel fill door release latch located underneath the left side of the instrument panel, to the left of the hood release latch. You don’t have to worry about getting the two latches confused, as the fuel fill door release latch is clearly marked with a white fuel-pump icon
Upon pulling the release latch, the fuel fill door will automatically pop open within a few seconds, at which point you can exit your vehicle and unscrew the fuel tank cap (it turns counterclockwise).
Set the cap in the holder on the inside of the fuel fill door and you’re all set to refuel. Keep in mind that the 2020 Toyota RAV4’s fuel tank capacity
is 14.5 gallons and that it takes regular gasoline. Once you’ve filled up the tank, screw the fuel tank cap back into place—you’ll know it’s locked when you hear an audible “click.” Firmly shut the fuel filler door to latch it. Failure to securely tighten the gas cap can trigger the “Loose Fuel Cap” warning light or even the “Check Engine” light to come on.
