How do you open the gas tank on a 2018 Nissan Sentra?
I bought a 2018 Nissan Sentra yesterday and am planning on stopping at the gas station on my way home. I couldn’t figure out how to open the fuel filler door when I tried it earlier. How do you open the gas tank on a 2018 Nissan Sentra?

Great question! Opening the gas tank—or rather, the fuel fill door—on a 2018 Nissan Sentra is really simple, but it may take some getting used to if you’re used to owning older vehicles.
To open your 2018 Nissan Sentra’s gas tank, all you have to do is pull the fuel filler door release latch located underneath the left side of the instrument panel, to the left of the hood release handle. The latch itself is black or dark gray in color and has a white oil-pump icon printed on its face.
Once you pull this latch, the fuel fill door will automatically open within a few seconds, at which point you can exit the vehicle and unscrew the fuel-filler cap (it turns counterclockwise), exposing the gas tank opening. Place the cap on the cap holder and you’re ready to refuel.
When you’ve finished putting gas in the tank, screw the cap back into place (you should hear an audible “click” once it’s secured) and firmly shut the fuel filler door—it should lock automatically. It’s important that both the fuel cap and fuel filler door are properly shut after refueling, as a loose or missing fuel cap can trigger the engine malfunction indicator light on your dashboard.
Fortunately, the 2018 Nissan Sentra gets pretty good gas mileage—close to 32 mpg combined—and has a
decent gas tank size
