What is the law on driving someone else’s car?

I’m picking my brother up from the airport next week, but my car is in the shop, so I’m borrowing my friend’s car. Am I allowed to drive her car? Thanks!

That’s kind of your friend! As long as she’s given you permission to drive her car, it should be no problem at all. In most cases, you’re allowed to drive someone else’s car, as long as it’s covered with insurance.
While you’re using your friend’s car, her insurance policy will be in effect—so, if there was any damage to the car, it’ll be covered under her policy. Remember, though, if you got a little over-zealous on your drive and ended up with a speeding ticket, the ticket will go on your record, not hers!
There are a few special circumstances where it might not be allowed (for example, if you were in her household and should’ve been listed on her insurance policy, but weren’t). In your case, though, you can borrow her car without facing any special rules.
Once you get your car back from the shop, you’ll want to double-check that you’ve got the best insurance policy!
