How do you open a smart car with a key?
I’m thinking about getting a smart car and am curious about the key system. How are you supposed to open a smart car with a key?

Smart cars are great options for more environmentally conscious people. Plus, they have great mileage! Like many other cars, smart cars use a key fob for unlocking the car and a traditional key-start system.
That said, you can open your smart car with a key by either:
- Pressing the unlock button on your key fob and opening the door, or
- inserting a metal key in the lock and twisting it to unlock the door.
Since they aren’t reliant on push start features, you can still use a smart car when the key fob runs out of charge. Though smart cars may look unique, their key systems are pretty standard!
