I just purchased a used Jeep Cherokee, and my key fob isn’t working. I bought a new battery to see if that’s the problem. But I can’t open the case! How do you open a Jeep Cherokee key fob?
Steps | How to open a Jeep Cherokee key fob (2021—but applies to other years as well) |
---|---|
Step 1 | On the back of the key fob, slide the latch sideways and extract the emergency key. |
Step 2 | Gently pry apart the fob by inserting a small flat-head screwdriver into the opening next to the one where the emergency key was located. |
Step 3 | Using your fingers, finish opening the case. |
Step 4 | Open the inner part of the fob to expose the battery. |
Step 5 | Remove the old battery and replace with new battery, + side up; battery # CR2032. |
Step 6 | Reattach the fob’s inner part so that you cannot see the battery. Then pop the fob back together. |
Step 7 | Reinsert the emergency key. |
