Oh no! A dead battery can be frustrating. BMW doesn’t offer specific details about how to take your car out of gear with a dead battery, but you can manually put your BMW 328i in neutral by following these steps:
- Take the key fob and remove the key
- Open the trunk
- Locate and open the emergency kit located on the top of the trunk
- Get the tow bar and gear release tool (orange)
- Remove the plastic cover from the cupholder
- Take the orange tool and stick it into the emergency gear release hole
- Turn it to the right and push down to lock it in place
- Your car should be in neutral
