Your car’s clock resetting when you turn your car on could be due to an issue with your battery, fuses, the ignition, or internal wiring. The best way to fix your car’s clock is to take your car to a professional for a proper diagnosis.
There are likely a couple of causes for your clock’s issue, and each cause requires its own fix. It might be best to take your car to a mechanic to figure out if one of these is causing your clock to reset:
- The most likely culprit is your battery. Car batteries should be changed every three years, and any time after that they are bound to start having some hiccups. Those hiccups could be what causes your clock to restart when you turn your car on and off.
- If there is an issue with your fuses, it could mean that the power to your clock is being interrupted due to a blown fuse or poor connection.
- A dirty ignition switch could also be the reason for the power disconnect with your clock. If the stream of electricity is blocked, then the clock could be forced to restart each time you start your engine.
- A wiring issue is the most complicated of the set. If there is a wiring gap, this could be the reason that your clock shuts off repeatedly.
