There’s a lot to learn when you first start driving and checking your blind spot is one of the most important things. Your blind spots are any parts of the outside of your vehicle you can’t see in your mirrors. All vehicles—no matter how big or small—have blind spots, but the bigger the vehicle, the bigger the blind spot.
Though blind spots cause a significant number of traffic accidents, they’re actually pretty simple to check. To check your blind spots before changing lanes, do the following:
- Check your rearview mirror
- Check your side-view mirrors
- Look over both shoulders to check through your back window
