How do you check the expiration date on a car seat?
My sister-in-law gifted me a secondhand car seat for my toddler. It looks like it's in really good condition, but I’m not sure how safe it is. Do car seats have expiration dates? If so, where can I find it?

aside, having a reliable car seat is the best way to protect your child while you’re on the road.It’s true, this equipment does expire, per the manufacturer’s guidance. The car seat’s expiration date should be printed somewhere on the plastic part of the seat.
If you’re having trouble finding it there, check the owner’s manual, assuming your sister-in-law still has it. Alternatively, you can call the manufacturer and ask.
For what it’s worth, most car seats expire six years from the date they were manufactured.
