How do you do an oil change on a Prius step by step? I don’t have a lot of extra money right now. I can’t afford to take my car in, but I want to keep up on regular maintenance so I don’t damage the engine.

Oil changes are a key component of car maintenance, so learning to do them yourself is a valuable skill. Note that you will need to be comfortable working on cars and have certain tools to perform this task; otherwise, it’s best left to a professional.
Grab an oil pan or another container for the oil and place it under the oil drain plug.
Use a wrench to carefully remove the oil drain plug and allow the old oil to drip into the pan.
Once the oil is completely drained, tighten the drain plug back into place using a wrench.
Remove the oil filter cap using a wrench, then replace the filter O-ring.
Take out the old oil filter, put in a new one, and tighten it.
Once you’ve secured the oil drain plug and the new filter, you can replace the skid plate and lower your car.
Using a funnel, pour the new oil in. A Prius will typically require around four quarts, but check your owner’s manual to make sure. You can also use your dipstick to keep track of how much oil you’ve added.
Replace the oil filler cap.
Start your engine and allow your Prius to idle for a minute or two, then check the oil level to make sure it’s where you intended it to be. If necessary, add more oil by using your funnel in the oil filler.
Congratulations! You’ve just changed the oil in your Toyota Prius.
