How do you change a brake light bulb in a 2003 Ford Fiesta?

What’s the best way to change a brake light bulb in a 2003 Ford Fiesta? I got a fix-it ticket for having a dead brake light, so I’d like to take care of it as soon as possible.

Changing your rear brake light bulbs is fairly simple. While it may seem tricky, it’s easy when you take the process one step at a time! Follow these instructions to change the brake light bulb in your 2003 Ford Fiesta:
  • Turn off your car and engage the handbrake to make sure it won’t roll away or shock you.
  • Remove the shelf from your trunk by pressing the release button and pulling them off.
  • Remove the two screws on your trunk lining that secure your light fixture. You’ll need a Torx screwdriver.
  • Fold back the side carpet directly next to your brake light.
  • Remove the wingnut from behind the carpet to fully release the light unit.
  • Take off the light unit and disconnect it from the electrical system by squeezing the clips and pulling them off.
  • Turn the gray plastic holder counterclockwise and give the brake light a slight turn to pull it out.
  • Screw in your new brake light and reassemble the light unit.
  • Reconnected your lights to the car and reattach the carpet you folded back.
Congratulations! If you followed those steps, your brake light should be shiny and new. Remember, you can always take your car to a
professional
if you don’t feel comfortable changing the brake lights yourself.
