Last night, I noticed that my tail light was out. I want to change it before I get a ticket, but I’m not sure what the process is. How do you replace a tail light in a 2014 Jeep Patriot?
is usually quick and easy. You can do it at home in just a few minutes.
The most common cause of a broken tail light is a burned-out bulb. Start your fix by looking up the replacement part number for the bulb in your owner’s manual and buy it. You’ll also need a flathead screwdriver. Then do the following:
Open the tailgate and go to the affected side.
Use the flathead screwdriver to pry up the plastic fasteners on the inner edge of the tail light housing
Remove the tail light housing and turn over to access the bulbs
Release the socket by turning it counterclockwise
Remove the old bulb
Using gloves to prevent damage and smudging, install the new bulb
Reinstall all parts in reverse order
Test your tail light
You’re done! Your tail light should now be working, and look at all the time and money you saved by doing it yourself.
