My anniversary is coming up and I want to surprise my wife with some flowers. I work away from home during the week. The drive is about three hours. What’s the best way to travel with flowers in a car for a few hours?

That’s a mighty sweet gesture to celebrate your anniversary! If you want everything to go according to plan, here’s how to travel with flowers in a car for hours at a time:
- Cut one to two inches off the end of each stem. This will improve the lifespan of the flowers and keep them fresh for longer.
- Trim off any of the lower leaves. This will also make them last longer and prevent jostling in the container.
- Tie the flowers together with a rubber band and then wrap them in a moist cloth.
- Put them in buckets half-full of water. Secure the buckets properly in the backseat or the cargo area of your vehicle.
- Keep them shaded and cool as much as possible.
