How do I restore my Datsun Z Car?
My dad recently gave me his 1974 Datsun 260Z. He bought it when I was a kid and always said he planned to fix it up, but I guess he never found the time. I’d love to get it running but I don’t know where to start. What should I do?

Wow, a Z-Car—what an awesome project car! Without knowing what shape it’s in, there’s probably more to restoring your Datsun Z-Car than we can cover here. That said, we can point you in the right direction:
- Grab a copy of ** How to Restore Your Datsun Z-Car **, available on Amazon. This guide covers several models, including the 260Z, and there are tons of photos and drawings to help you through your project.
- Take lots of notes and pictures before you take anything apart. Even if you think you’ll remember exactly how everything’s supposed to look, it’s best not to trust your memory when it comes to disassembling and reassembling a vehicle.
- Find a secure place for the project. If you have a closed garage, that’s perfect! Some restoration projects will take a long time and you’re not going to want to leave parts lying around your driveway.
