Unless you take your car to the Honda dealership, most mechanics won’t take the extra step to reset your oil life after an oil change. To reset the oil life on a
Honda Pilot
, turn your vehicle on, press the trip button until you reach the oil life reading, then hold the trip button for 10 seconds.
If you still can’t get it to work, follow these more in-depth instructions:
  • Place the key in the ignition and turn it to the on position. Make sure that you don’t start the engine.
  • Locate the trip button to the left of the speedometer on the instrument cluster.
  • Hold the trip button until the oil life starts to blink.
  • Release the trip button.
  • Press the trip button again until the oil life resets itself to 100%.
Make sure that you don’t randomly reset the oil life at your leisure. Knowing the actual life of your oil can help you maintain a
routine maintenance schedule
for oil changes keep your Pilot in tip-tip shape.
