That sounds frustrating and is unsafe for nighttime driving. Good thing you’re working to get it fixed! Replacing the dashboard lights in your
Toyota Tacoma
is as easy as getting behind the instrument panel.
Here’s how you do it:
  1. Disconnect the negative battery lead. Use a wrench to loosen the clamp around the negative terminal just enough to allow you to shimmy the black cable out.
  2. Use a flat pry tool to remove the trim pieces surrounding the HVAC control panel from inside the car.
  3. Using a small wrench, remove the mounting fasteners and pull the HVAC control panel from the dashboard.
  4. Turn the burnt-out bulb counterclockwise and remove it by pulling straight out.
  5. Insert the new bulb into the holder and turn clockwise to refasten.
  6. Set the HVAC control panel back into the dashboard, apply the fasteners, and reassemble the trim panels.
  7. After you reattach the negative battery terminal, you’re all done!
