How do I replace a Toyota Corolla key battery?
I have a 2016 Toyota Corolla and I think the battery in my key fob is dying because my car takes a few button presses to lock/unlock. I’m getting pretty annoyed with it, so I’m ready to try and replace the battery. I don’t know what battery to use or how to even open the dang thing. I need to know how to replace a Toyota Corolla key battery.

Toyota Corolla’s
key fob is easy!Before you get started, you’re going to need a small flathead screwdriver (or a coin if you don’t have a screwdriver on-hand) and a 2016 3V button cell battery.
To change the battery on your Toyota Corolla’s key fob, do the following:
- Step One: Locate a small opening or groove on the edge of your key fob. Gently pry the key open using either a small screwdriver or coin on the opening and twist.
- Step Two: Once your key fob is open, you will notice a small plastic shell inside the case. Pry this piece apart exactly like Step One to gain access to the battery.
- Step Three: Remove the battery by locating the tiny opening under the battery to pry it up.
- Step Four: Place the new battery in the key with the positive (+) side facing upwards.
- Step Five: Click the plastic pieces back together and your key fob should be ready to go.
