How do I remove violations from my driving record in Virginia?

I recently got a speeding ticket, and I’m waiting for my insurance rates to go up any day now. Is there a way to get it off my Virginia driving record and lower my rates?

Bummer! You’re right—violations on your record can cause
car insurance in Virginia
to skyrocket, so it’s a good idea to pay attention to your driving record. In Virginia, violations may not be removed from your record at request. Depending on the severity of your violation, a violation may remain on your record for up to three years or even permanently. On the other hand, demerit points will remain on your driving record for two years and are removed.
If you’re lucky, you may qualify for Virginia’s
driver improvement program
, which could potentially reduce the demerit points on your driving record just by taking an approved driving program.
If your record is less-than-perfect and you’re in the market for cheaper
car insurance
, there’s an easy solution: download the
Jerry
app. As a
licensed insurance broker
, Jerry searches over 55 top companies to find you the lowest possible rates for whatever coverage you’re looking for—all in 45 seconds or less.
