How do I remove orange peel from my car paint?

I repainted my Prius as a weekend project. Turns out I didn't do as well as I'd hope: I've got orange peel on the hood, which does not look great. How do I remove orange peel from my car paint?

Good for you for taking on a paint project! You’re right—orange peel can be an unsightly addition to your car. Thankfully, you can remove it at home if you have the right tools!
First, use some sandpaper dipped in water and dish soap and use even strokes to sand down the specific area of the orange peel. Be sure to frequently wipe the surface with water to see where you are—you don’t want to sand too deep!
Use a rubbing compound to replace the car’s shine after the wet sanding process, using terry cloth or a buffer in smooth, circular motions. To finish, add a glaze and seal off the paint with wax.
Of course, it may be easier—and ultimately less costly—to take your car to a professional.
