Sorry to hear about your broken car window! The good news is that it’s not hard to get it back up into the closed position.
Here’s what you should do:
Put the key in the ignition and turn the car on
Press the window button into the up position and hold
Open and slam the car door to jar the motor. This should start the motor running enough to give you an opportunity to roll the window up before it hits the bad connection again
If that doesn’t work, you can get a little more hands-on. You’ll need a flat head screwdriver, tape, and rubber bands. Follow these steps:
Remove all screws and disconnect the wire switches to remove the door panel
Holding the window in place with tape, unscrew the window from the regulator mechanism
Manually move the window up as high as you can
Disengage the motor. Use the rubber bands to hold the axle springs in place
Replace the window reversing the process you used to take it apart
Replace the door panel
If this seems too complicated, you should get your car into a shop as soon as possible.
If the damage to the window was a result of a collision, act of God, or vandalism, your insurance may cover it. If you don’t have comprehensive insurance, now might be the time to consider it. Use the Jerry
