My brother gave me his old BMW when he upgraded to a newer car. I’m getting used to all of the features but I’m wondering if it has enhanced Bluetooth capabilities. How can I tell?
! It’s worth noting that only BMWs made in 2003 or later have Bluetooth at all, and only models from 2013 onward have Bluetooth capabilities beyond making hands-free phone calls.
The easiest way to tell if your BMW has enhanced Bluetooth (EBT) is to check the features list in the owner’s manual. You can also call a BMW dealer and provide the VIN to see if your car has EBT.
You can also reverse engineer the process by looking at the features on your car. If your BMW has these, your car likely has enhanced Bluetooth installed:
Can pair two phones simultaneously
Can connect iOS devices through a USB cable
Music streaming is available
Can play music from a phone through a USB port
Features album art/covers
Access to Office (reading/sending SMS, calendar, tasks, notes)
