How do I know if I am overpaying for auto insurance?

I currently pay $40 a month for insurance. I was shopping around and found another carrier will offer me coverage for $25 a month. I only have basic liability. Am I overpaying? Should I also increase my coverage?

“Insurance rates fluctuate and are different for every driver. There are a multitude of factors that insurance carriers look into when determining a rate. While you may only be paying $40 a month for
liability insurance
, someone else with the same carrier may be paying double that.
The amount of insurance that you carry depends on your personal preference. It is recommended that most drivers carry more than the
minimum car insurance required
for their state. If you are able to afford higher limits, you should consider increasing your coverage.
Since you’ve found a carrier that can offer a lower rate, you should reach out to them. Terms and conditions can change with every carrier, so it’s important to know what would be covered in the policy. You can also continue to shop around.
