What gear do I need for driving in the snow?

I’m going on a ski trip with friends in a couple of weeks, and we’ll be taking my Subaru for the trip. What kind of supplies do you need to drive in the snow safely?

Sounds like it’ll be a great trip!
The gear you need for driving in the snow includes chains for your tires, an ice scraper, salt, and
a winter emergency car kit to keep you safe
.
Chains give your tires necessary traction for driving on snowy roads—they’re imperative to have in your trunk if you plan to head to the mountains. Some roads even require chains during winter months.
You’ll also need an ice scraper to scrape ice off of your windshield. Salt is great for sprinkling on icy driveways and other slippery surfaces. And an emergency kit is essential in case you get caught in a blizzard.
An emergency kit should contain: a flashlight, blanket, water, food, jumper cables, and a radio. Feel free to throw in any personal items that you’ll want in an emergency situation, too.
Good luck on your trip!
For ultimate peace of mind, make sure you’re covered with good
car insurance
before you go.
