How do I jumpstart a BMW?
I’ve never owned a BMW, but I’m thinking ahead! I want to make sure I know how to get my future car out of a sticky situation—so how can I jumpstart a BMW?

- Pull the working vehicle up to the dead-battery BMW, making sure the cars don’t touch but are close enough for the cables to reach.
- Pop open both hoods, making sure you keep the jump-starting vehicle on
- In the BMW, remove the key and turn off everything. Make sure all of the buttons are in the off position, too!
- Now, clamp the positive jumper cable with the BMW’s positive terminal. It’s important to squeeze the handle to open the clamp and release it onto the knob. Repeat this process with the working vehicle.
- Next, place one of the negative (black) clamps on the negative pole of the booster car.
- Open the driver’s side door of the BMW, get in, and close it quickly.
- Finally, start the ignition. If it doesn’t work immediately, give it a minute.
- Once it works, leave it running and disconnect the jumper cables, making sure not to let the cables touch.
