There’s no doubt about it—the World Rally Championship is one of the most exciting events in all of motorsports. Every driver there had to start somewhere, and you can follow in their footsteps by joining a car club, going to a rally school, and volunteering at rally events.
If you’re looking to pursue your rally passion, here are the best steps you can take to get started:
- Join a car club: The first thing you’ll want to do is find some friends who are just as stoked about rally as you. Join a club to connect with members—who knows, maybe you’ll even find a mentor who can teach you the tricks of the trade!
- Go to rally school: Before you dive head-first into the sport, you’ll want to make sure that you enjoy life behind the wheel. Booking an introductory course is a great way to get a feel for rally racing.
- Volunteer or work in the sport: If you’re truly passionate about it, the best way to work your way up the ranks of rally racing is to volunteer or work at events. This will demonstrate your commitment to the sport and put you front and center at the races.
- Get a car of your own: So, you’ve taken all of these steps, and you’re still psyched about racing. It’s time to buy or build a car of your own.
