How do I get a CDL job with a bad driving record?
I want to get a CDL so I can become a truck driver. My only problem is that my driving record isn’t great. My license isn’t suspended or anything, but I have quite a few demerit points. Is there any way to get a CDL if you have a bad driving record?

It’s definitely still possible for you to get a CDL! While some trucking companies may eliminate you if you have a certain number of demerit points or three or more speeding tickets, the truck driver shortage means that you have a better chance than ever of getting a CDL job.
In the past, a poor driving record all but eliminated you from getting a job. However, trucking companies are up against the wall in terms of personnel. As a result, many trucking companies will hire you for a CDL, even if you have a poor driving record.
The best way to find a CDL job if you have a poor driving record is to look for vacancies on job boards or trucking company websites. Many of these job descriptions outline their driving requirements, including if you can get a job with a bad driving record.
In addition, some of the bigger trucking companies are so short-staffed that they’re actively looking for willing truck drivers of all varieties. To get your search started, check out a few of these companies:
