We’re glad you’re taking the time to care for your car. You can fix cracked primer with the right tools and a little handiwork.
You’ll need to gather the following materials to fix your car’s primer:
  • Degreaser
  • Sponge
  • Sandpaper (around 2000 grit)
  • Car primer
  • Touch-up paint
  • Car wax
Here’s what you’ll need to do:
  • Clean off the cracked area with a degreasing cleaner and sponge.
  • Sand lightly. Be sure not to sand the sheet metal below the paint.
  • Apply a new coat of primer on the sanded area.
  • Wait for the primer to dry.
  • Use touch-up paint to paint the affected area.
  • Wax the newly painted area for shine.
If you follow these steps, your paint job should be looking as good as new. This fix is best for minor or isolated cracks. If there is widespread or deep cracking in your car’s paint job, it’s probably time to
hire a professional
