Car key problems are the worst and can cost anywhere between $50 and $600 to
replace a car key
. Luckily, you can replace your twisted car key at home on a budget.
Follow these steps to fix a twisted car key:
  • Grab the key at either end with a pair of pliers. You can insert the key into its lock or vice if you don’t have a second pair of pliers.
  • Bend the key gently until it has straightened. Be careful not to break it.
  • Insert the key back into the car door lock. Repeat the steps if the key does not turn.
Once a key is bent it’s more likely to break in use so you should consider purchasing a replacement before you lock yourself out of your car. Jerry can help you save money with do-it-yourself repairs and
