To find out, you’ll want to call your local police department and give the police dispatcher your car’s license plate number. The dispatcher can check the car’s status and inform you about the next steps you need to take.
If your car wasn’t towed by the city, you can contact the business where your car was parked to get information about the tow company they use.
You can also go online and check your city’s towed vehicle locator website, if they have one. You will need to provide your license plate number or your vehicle registration number (VIN).
