How do I check tire pressure on a Hyundai Tucson?

I have a newer Hyundai Tucson, but recently it’s been handling a bit funky. I suspect that one or more of the tires is over or underinflated, but I’ve never checked them before. How do I check tire pressure on a Tucson?

If you have a 2007 or newer model, your Tucson should come equipped with a tire pressure monitoring system. This will let you know the pressure in each tire. Once you have that information, here’s how to check tire pressure on a Hyundai Tucson:
  1. Find the valve stem on the tire.
  2. Unscrew it.
  3. Press the tire gauge against the valve stem to get a psi reading. This will let you know whether you need to add or remove air from the tire.
  4. Use an air compressor to add air. You can either buy one or go to a gas station.
  5. If you need to remove air, press the backside of the tire gauge against the valve stem.
  6. Once you have all tires to the proper psi as outlined in your owner’s manual, you’re done!
If the poor handling persists, you may need to take your car to a mechanic. If you need to offset the cost, reduce your
