How do I check the tire pressure on a Hyundai Elantra?

My Hyundai Elantra hasn’t been handling well lately, but I just took it to the shop. My guess is that the tire pressure is out of whack. How do I check the tire pressure?

We’re sorry to hear about your handling issues! Checking the tire pressure is the first step any owner should take when it comes to a car that is handling erratically because it’s free and easy. Here’s how to check the tire pressure on the Hyundai Elantra:
  1. Open the driver’s side door and look at the placard on the door jamb to get the
correct tire pressure for your Elantra
    .
  2. Make sure your tires are cold before testing the pressure. Warm tires after driving can give you an inaccurate reading.
  3. Find the valve stem on the tire.
  4. Unscrew the valve stem cap.
  5. Push the
    tire gauge
onto the valve stem. This will give you a psi reading that you can compare to what you found in the door jamb.
  6. Fill the tires or release air until you get to the proper psi.
  7. Repeat for all four tires of your Elantra until you have the proper tire pressure.
