How do I change the oil filter on a 2010 Toyota Highlander?
I’m getting more into performing my own vehicle maintenance and next on my list is changing the oil. I know how to do some steps but others still seem confusing. For instance, what’s the process to replace the oil filter on a Toyota?

It’s always a great idea to get more involved in your car’s maintenance and the oil isn’t a bad place to start. To change the oil filter on your 2010
Toyota Highlander
, start by gathering the following items:- Oil drain pan or bucket
- Clean towel
- Set of wrenches
- New oil filter
Once you have these items, you can begin changing your oil filter, which is located in the front center of the motor. If you’re having trouble finding it, check your owner’s manual for the exact location.
Place your draining pan or bucket directly beneath the filter and begin to loosen the filter with a wrench and 3/8-inch attachment. Allow the oil to drip into the bucket. When it stops dripping, remove the filter, then place it into the bucket.
With your towel, wipe the flange clean and make sure that the gasket from the old filter did not get stuck. If it did, remove it.
Before putting in your new filter, spread some oil on the gasket of the new filter. Then, screw it on. Be careful not to over-tighten. To avoid this, screw the filter in by hand.
