How do I change the license plate light on a 2012 Toyota Camry?
I got pulled over yesterday because my license plate light was out. I didn’t even know that was a requirement! I just got a warning, but I want to fix it ASAP to avoid a ticket. How do I replace the license plate light on my 2012 Toyota Camry?

Changing the license plate light on your 2012
Toyota Camry
is quick and easy. First, figure out what bulb you need.The 7th generation
Toyota
Camry (2012-2016) uses a 2825 miniature bulb, but you can also use a compatible LED if you prefer. Once you have your bulb, grab a flathead screwdriver and do the following.- Pop the trunk
- Find and remove the three, round plastic fasteners on the liner
- Pull back the carpet liner to locate the black plastic housing of the license plate bulb
- Partially eject the housing by gently squeezing the plastic prongs on its sides (it does not have to come out completely)
- Use the flathead screwdriver to pry off the clear cover over the bulb housing
- Remove the old bulb by pulling it straight out
- Install the new bulb by pushing it straight into the socket
- Replace the clear cover and push the housing back in
- Replace the housing cover, fold down the liner, and reinstall the fasteners
- Test bulb by turning on your headlights
Done! Now your license plate will be clearly visible at night.
