“The insurance business is booming, so becoming an agent is a great career move. To be an agent in
Florida
, you have to meet several requirements. They are:
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be a United States citizen or legal alien
  • Be a resident of Florida
If you meet these requirements, you’re ready to take an approved insurance course. This course has to be at least 60 hours. Once you complete the course, apply for your license, send proof to the state of your course completion, and get fingerprinted. Then, register to take your exam. If you pass, the state will send you an approval notice.
While you can complete these steps on your own, many
car insurance companies
will help get you licensed. Since you’re considering switching into the field, you should look at job opportunities in your area. You should see in the job listing that they will pay for you to get licensed.
If you choose to get licensed by yourself, you can begin applying for jobs once you are officially licensed.
