How can I stripe my car mats?
I’ve been looking for a simple detailing project that I can do to elevate my car’s appearance. I came across striped car mats—they look great! Is this something I can DIY? How do you create stripes on car mats?

Car detailing is an awesome hobby and striping your car mats is a great touch! The best part? You won’t even have to shell out any extra money to make it happen.
All you need to do is:
- Remove your car mats, and shake them out as best you can. Once you’ve gotten rid of the worst of the dirt and debris, lay them flat.
- Thoroughly vacuum the mats, using your fingers to separate the fibers and remove more of the grit.
- Spray upholstery cleaner onto the mats, then work it in gently with a soft-bristled brush.
- While the mat is still a little damp, brush the entire thing down in one direction.
- While all the fibers are facing the same way, brush every other row in the opposite direction. The difference in the direction of the fibers will create a striped look.
- Allow your mats to dry fully before putting them back in the car.
