How can I scrap a car without a title?
I have this old junker car that’s been sitting in my garage forever. I want to scrap it for a few bucks, but I lost the title. Will a junkyard take a car without a title?

In most states, you can scrap a car without a title as long as you can prove that you are the owner of it. Typically, you can do this by providing registration for the vehicle and your driver’s license.
Note that the following things will not count as proof of ownership:
- A bill of sale because those can easily be forged
- Proof of insurancebecause it is possible to insure a vehicle that isn’t yours to sell
- Cash and bribery because the yard is required to report every car they acquire
